- 143 countries - voted on Wednesday in favour of a resolution that called Moscow's move illegal, deepening Russia's international isolation.

In Brussels, more than 50 Western countries met to pledge more military aid to Ukraine, especially air defence weapons, on the heels of heavy retaliatory strikes this week ordered by Russian President Vladimir Putin in response to an explosion on a bridge in Crimea. Since Monday's attacks, Germany has sent the first of four IRIS-T SLM air defence systems, while Washington said it would speed up delivery of a promised Nasams air defence system."The more assistance Ukraine gets now, the sooner we'll come to an end to the Russian war," Mr Zelensky said by video to a forum during International Monetary Fund and World Bank annual meetings in Washington.

The United States and other Western countries lobbied ahead of Wednesday's vote. They won dozens more votes than compared with the 2014 result, and improved on the 141 countries who voted to denounce Russia and demand it withdraw its troops from Ukraine within a week of its invasion.

In 1992, Ukraine signed the Lisbon Protocol n joined the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty as a non-nuclear weapon state in 1994. The transfer of all nuclear material took some time, but by 2001, all nuclear weapons had been transferred to Russia. After that wat happens? Outcome?

Succumbing to threats to surrender is like acceding to terrorists' demands to release their prisoners. More will ensue. Don't be led into twisted rationale - the rapist raped the woman bcos she was wearing a sexy dress. The perpetrator blames the victim for his wrongdoing.

Don't succumb to threats from would-be aggressors. Threatening anybody to surrender is an act of aggression, NOT PEACE! Unfortunately, the only peace n neutrality in the real world is a stalemate. U don't attack me, I won't attack u. Deterence is the best assurance.

The msgs from UN/moral societies around world must be LOUD, UNAMBIGUOUS n PRINCIPLED! This is IMPERATIVE, if we want youths around world to hold clear moral principle/standard n an unyielding spirit against terror. Don't let more youths be radicalised bcos of adults' follies.

Unruly West.
