Toddler dies from COVID19 infection in Singapore’s first death caused by the coronavirus in a patient under 12 years old

The Singaporean boy, aged one-and-a-half, died on Monday , said Ministry of Health news release.

The Health Ministry said the child was at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital Children’s Emergency Department on the night of Jun 21 with high fever and recurrent seizures, with a subsequent drop in consciousness. The Health Ministry said COVID-19 can result in severe disease, even in children and those without pre-existing medical conditions.“All children aged five to 11 years are recommended to be vaccinated with the Pfizer-BioNTech/Comirnaty vaccine, especially children with underlying chronic medical conditions.
