BANGKOK - Thailand's King Maha Vajiralongkorn said"the country needs people who love the country and love the monarchy", in pre-recorded comments broadcast on state television on Friday from an event a day earlier.

Riot police used water cannons to try and disperse demonstrators, who defied emergency rules and a ban on large gatherings with a last-minute change in the protest venue to hold rally at the main intersection near the MBK Center shopping mall in central Bangkok. The state of emergency for Bangkok was announced after tens of thousands of protesters broke through police lines and surrounded Mr Prayut's office on Wednesday night.

Hahaha 😂 People should love the Monarchy! What a statement. 500 years already, but the poor still remain poor. The rich gets richer.

The king wants people to love him. But he only loves women and sex party, not his people.

Stripped down from when he talked to ex-communist living in Thailand and the fact that his father stop Thailand on the verge of becoming communist country long ago, please stop doing this, not all Thais agree with the protestors and may be it is beyond your comprehension.

So he can take his many wifes to Germany for vacation?

This guy is really disqualified as a king... too bad for Thai people.

They would love him and Thailand more if he starts to share that $30 billion with his people.

So...let them eat cake?

they love, thats why they fight. not like a poor billionaire talking in his couch

Shame on him! Thai should love themselves, their parents, siblings, friends, country and help each other! Monarch should show good example!

Bad king.

How can you love the country when you are going to be forever poor?

Can you see his son’s face?

😡😡😡

Thailand's ban on protests sparks more protestsIn their tens of thousands, anti-government protesters cheered and chanted into the night in central Bangkok on Thursday (October 15). \n This is a show of mass defiance to a ban on demonstrations designed to end more than three months of anti-government action. \n The protests are aimed at the king and the prime minister, in the biggest challenge for years to an establishment long dominated by the army and the palace. \n As night fell, they chanted for the release of some 40 activists arrested this week. \n Some also called out insults against the king - behavior which until recently was almost unheard of, in a country where the constitution says he must be revered. \n Protests over the last three months have been largely peaceful. \n But in one incident on Wednesday (October 14), police pushed jeering protesters away from a motorcade carrying Queen Suthida. \n Overnight, the government banned political gatherings of five or more people. \n The publication of news and online information that could threaten national security was also banned. \n Police have made a number of new arrests - a student leader, a protest leader and a rights lawyer. They or their representatives all say they face charges over comments in previous demonstrations and speeches. \n Those marching on the streets want a new constitution, and a reduction in the powers of the king.
