MUMBAI: The tennis governing bodies have joined forces to support lower-level professionals who are struggling financially during the sport's shutdown due to the novel coronavirus outbreak.

The plight of the players ranked outside the top 100 in singles prompted all stakeholders, along with the organisers of the four Grand Slams, to step in and devise plans to provide some relief. "In a world where we think greater collaboration among the governing bodies is key, I think it would be a great message if we can all support the players in this crisis."

The WTA and the ATP have previously said they were working to boost players' earnings when the sport resumes and might extend the current season to allow more tournaments to be held.

While technology has been the way to go this pandemic, I beg to differ that Japan’s traditional methods are trash. Kindly do not judge based on the surface. Having lived there, there is a certain warmth in their people that has been utterly lost in our “first-world” Singapore. Several aspects of Japan are ahead of Singapore. They have world-class healthcare for treating pneumonia and more, an excellent transport network, delivery systems, amazing convenience stores, housing, etc. In Singapore’s bid to move everything online, In Singapore’s bid to move everything online, certain basics have been compromised. We will be the first to go down when the internet goes down. By the way, we can do this only because we don’t have natural disasters.
