Top seed Feng Tianwei came from three sets down to beat her compatriot Zeng Jian in the final.

SINGAPORE: Singapore's Feng Tianwei beat compatriot Zeng Jian to take home the gold medal on Sunday in the table tennis women's singles event at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

World number 16 Feng Tianwei came back from three sets down to beat Feng 4-3 in the all-Singapore final. Zeng started the match stronger, taking the first set 11-6. She then raced to a lead in the second set before claiming it 11-5. In the third set, Feng put up a valiant fight, but world number 60 Zeng proved too strong and won it 11-8.

With her back against the wall, Feng started the fourth set strongly and claimed it 11-4, before taking the fifth set 11-6 and the sixth set 11-8.Singapore was assured of both the gold and silver medals at the event after both Feng and Zeng won their respective semi-final matchesThis is Singapore's second gold medal and fourth silver medal at the Games. The country also has a bronze medal.
