SEOUL: Official campaigning for South Korea's upcoming general election kicked off on Thursday (Mar 28), with President Yoon Suk Yeol's ruling party fighting to win back a parliamentary majority and thwart opposition attempts to derail his conservative agenda.

SEOUL: Official campaigning for South Korea's upcoming general election kicked off on Thursday , with President Yoon Suk Yeol's ruling party fighting to win back a parliamentary majority and thwart opposition attempts to derail his conservative agenda.

South Korea's ruling People Power Party campaigners wave during a campaign ahead of the upcoming parliamentary elections in Seoul on Mar 28, 2024. Analysts say the election is a continuation of the 2022 presidential race when Yoon narrowly beat the opposition Democratic Party's current leader Lee Jae-myung by a margin of only 0.73 per cent.

The PPP's Han branded both Lee and Cho"criminals" in his opening campaign speech, and vowed to bring them to justice.
