SEOUL : South Korea's exports likely fell in February for a fifth straight month, dragged down by weak China-bound shipments, a Reuters survey showed on Monday, although the pace of the decline would ease thanks to favourable calendar effects.

It would extend their run of year-on-year losses to a fifth straight month, but would mark the second-slowest pace of decline in the streak after 5.8 per cent in October. "In line with the slowdown in the global manufacturing cycle, South Korea's exports are expected to log negative growth rates through the first half of this year."

In the first 20 days of this month, South Korea exported goods worth 2.3 per cent less than a year earlier. Exports to China, South Korea's biggest trading partner, dropped 22.7 per cent, outweighing gains in U.S. and EU-bound shipments.
