SINGAPORE - Cable Car 1890's Saloon, a bar near Orchard Road, is used to serving a full house by 7pm, even on Mondays.

His is not the only outlet feeling the squeeze. Acid Bar, Muddy Murphy's, Brewerkz and Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf have also reported similar dips in custom. An employee of Muddy Murphy's, who declined to be named, said that he has seen almost a quarter of his customers disappear. "I do feel sorry for these smokers, especially those that work in Orchard," said the information technology specialist."The ban criminalises them somewhat.""It's not a smart move," said Mr Pheh."And it won't fix the problem, which is that our customers want to smoke."

It's an awesome ban. I don't smoke and I dislike smokers. Plus what's wrong with indoor smoking, they can smoke themselves to death instead of poisoning other people with their second hand smoke.

Might as well ban cigarrette packs...oh wait, it's the income tax for the govt.

Smoking ban was the best thing that was done! It made Orchard Road much more friendly for families and kids. Walking through wading smoke before was really bad for health. Maybe restaurants can add closed rooms like Changi?
