Singapore imports pork from over 20 sources, no need to hoard: Baey Yam Keng

Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Sustainability and the Environment Baey Yam Keng checking in with pork sellers at Tampines N4 Neighbourhood Centre market last Saturday.

African swine fever was detected in a consignment of live pigs from the Indonesian island, and also in pig carcasses at an abattoir where the animals are slaughtered for food. SFA added that this was the first time the disease had been detected among pigs imported into Singapore. Baey said he has been in contact with the pork sellers at Tampines N4 Neighbourhood Centre market. He stated, "They are aware of this temporary disruption and are uncertain of what would happen when their suppliers run out of stocks in the coming days."
