Both believe in the uniqueness of local Chinese culture and celebrate the multicultural diversity of Singapore

Individual award recipient Yan Choong Lian, founder and artistic director of Dance Ensemble Singapore, and Mr Nelson Chia and Ms Mia Chee, co-founders of organisation award winner Nine Years Theatre.

The award, launched in 2017 by the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre , has been given out annually except in 2020 because of the pandemic. She hopes the prize award will help the new generation of dance practitioners whom she has mentored to showcase their distinctive dance forms to all Singaporeans, and to present Singapore’s multicultural experience on the global stage.
