REUTERS/Rafael MarchanteLISBON: Confirmed coronavirus cases in Portugal pushed past the 10,000 mark on Saturday , while government data showed more than half a million Portuguese workers were at risk of being temporarily laid off due to the outbreak.

Portugal extended its state of emergency by 15 days on Thursday, and tightened measures to restrict movements, especially during the normally busy Easter holiday period. The measure allows companies to temporarily suspend jobs or reduce working hours but does not let them fire or make workers redundant.
