SINGAPORE: The use of personal mobility devices (PMDs) could be banned if the behaviour of riders does not improve, said Senior Minister of State ...

However, these plans will be revisited to see whether the current approach needs to be rethought or additional measures introduced, given the “heightened concerns and adverse feedback” in recent weeks. He noted though that the authorities still view PMDs as useful modes of first-and-last mile transport if used responsibly.

Meanwhile, the Land Transport Authority is working with Members of Parliament to identify hotspots where improvement works - such as the widening of footpaths and the installation of speed-regulating strips - can be implemented quickly to enhance safety.

“In the meantime, we strongly urge PMD users to be extra responsible and mindful of others. If their behaviour does not improve, we may have no choice but to ban their usage completely from Singapore,” he said.

Should only allowed old people to use this. Maybe 30age and over. Because the young people are the one causing problems. Ride so reckless.

They can't bother to regulate because it takes up too much resources and brain power. Unless they can charge people a fee to own pmds or COE.. Or maybe implement their 'world class' ERP system for pmds.. They can give the reason that lesser pmds at crowded places.. Lol

Don't forget the behavior of Singaporean drivers on the road is also getting worst. Right or wrong, people just show their middle finger greeting. No one gives way on the road nowadays. Should be ban vehicles too?

Install more officers on patrol and ban all LED lights on PMD cos it blinding forth coming person!!!

I suggest all PMD must go thru all checks before been allowed to sell in retail market , like our electrical items , to be checked by authority and have an Approved logo to use in Sgp

LTAsg Why not riders attend 1-2 day lessons w/ MCQ test? 80% pass rate = licence TB renewed annually?Give way to pedestrians esp. children & elderly, helmets are a must, lights on at night etc. Still too many errant riders out there til’ past midnight! QC PMD & chargers for 🔥!

Please ban it before this year end so we start tbe new year without them

Are we supposed to wait for more accidents to happen before the government finally ban PMDs?

They should be banned with immediate effect! The riders are causing nuisance & ride without regard to other road users like the elderly & children. They are also not insured so their victims are left without compensation.

Caught anyone on modified PMDs speeding along Airline Road in the middle of the night? Probably not!

There are plenty of errant drivers too. Ban driving totally, why not? Not that the behavior of the PMD users should be condoned but has the govt thought hard enough?

Yes!!!

Sld be banned already.

I just bought my second PMD because of the new ruling, now you want to ban the PMD. Who is going to pay my old PMD ($855) and new PMD ($920). Can you all make up your mind and stop wasting my money.

Please God, make this happen

PMDs are really useful. I support PMDs but all the reckless riders are making things hard for everyone. I don’t agree on the total ban but if it is for public safety, then it should be done. :(

Come on Janil acknowledge it was a bad move from day one and keep this imbeciles locked out
