A woman who pleaded guilty last month to physically abusing her helper from 2017 to 2018 was slapped on Monday with a S$1,000 fine and a five-month jail sentence.
On Apr 4, she pleaded guilty to four counts of voluntarily causing hurt and one of mischief. Four additional charges were considered for sentencing, CNA reported. But the physical abuse began in 2017, which was the same time that Zhao would cut the helper’s pay when she broke a plate or made other similar mistakes.
But things came to a head-on on Aug 25, 2018. On that day, Zhao got upset with Ms Ma Ei, claiming that the helper had not put her son’s toys away properly.
