No excuse for his reaction but I think this ruling on eating in the train has to be re-visited. Some people have medical conditions that may warrant them to eat in the train especially diabetics. A diabetic may be getting into hypo glycemia and this situation he may have to eat!

The fine for eating and drinking in trains and stations is SGD500. In HK, the fine is HKD2000. High-Speed trains allow eating and drinking to cater for long-distance rides and are equipped with trays and cup holders.
