SINGAPORE - The National University of Singapore will convene a committee to review its disciplinary and support frameworks after an undergraduate posted on social media about her encounter with a peeping Tom at one of the university's residential halls.
In several other stories on her Instagram profile posted on Thursday and Friday, Ms Baey called for tougher action to be taken by the university. The peeping Tom ran away after she shouted, Ms Baey said. A girl who was outside the toilet stall told Ms Baey she saw a man who ran down the staircase. In the statement on Saturday, Assoc Prof Pang said:"We are sorry for Ms Monica Baey's distressing experience, which is of extreme concern to the university."Assoc Prof Pang confirmed that the case was investigated by the police and the perpetrator was given a 12-month conditional warning by the authorities. Ms Baey was informed of the warning in January this year.
Ms Laura Ng, 24, who graduated from NUS in 2018, told ST that she felt it was time for the university to take more action against those who commit such crimes.

What would LKY do if he is still alive ? We really miss LKY ...
NUS should sack Nicholas Lim Jun Kai of Chemical Engineering ! He has bring shame and disrepute to himself, his family and NUS Engineering Department !
Nothing courageous about Monica! she is just saddened he didnt get MORE for all the 'views' he got
Walao, please give people a chance la. Who don’t made mistake.
Why are media's posting photo of victim
MSNBC NPR you seen this?
Is this not illegal? How come such weak punishment?
Put down your pitchforks:
Giving the perpetrator a 12 month warning is the same thing as letting him get away scot-free. And officers telling the victim 'you just have to accept the outcome'? Where is justice then? Is justice really being done?
This is Singapore now?what is going on, i thought Singapore is very tough on crimes regardless small or big. Are you going soft like USA?
For those curious, this is Nicholas Lim the man who filmed her in the toilet. He is a student in Chemical Engineering if I am correct. We should be putting pictures of the offender instead of the victim. So here is a picture of the sex offender, who filmed someone showering
'the peeping tom', 'the perpetrator' ? just drop the name of the CRIMINAL already. his name is nicholas lim jun kai, a chem engineering student. i don't get how news outlets just LOVE to protect the offender and instead reveal all information about the victim. do better.
drop the name Straits Times. his name is nicholas lim jun kai. I don't ever understand how news outlets JUST LOVE to protect the identity of criminals and offenders while revealing information on the victim. this is absolutely vile and disgusting.
This is repulsive and inexcusable failure of Asia's premier uni, NUSingapore, to protect its female students from sexual crimes on its campus. It taints the supposedly good law & order reputation of Singapore too. Kudos to the brave Monica Baey.
No U don’t have to just accept the outcome ! But an appeal can cost U for sure.... n most probably NUS does not want to pay for it n want the case closed ASAP !
Ya NUS will review, but will they do anything more towards Nicholas Lim the sexual offender? I think that’s the more important thing rather then informing us that they will review their policies again.
this sounds like a monty python sketch. q: how do we keep pervs from filming people in the showers? nus: let’s form a committee!
What?!? Only 12 months probation? This is ridiculous and just sends the wrong message. What if he wasn't caught and he distributed the video? It will be too late as the victim will feel humiliated and many may go into depression.
Why no comment from Singaporeans?
