People walk out during lunch break at the Raffles Place financial business district in Singapore on September 14, 2021.

Speaking at an MTF virtual press conference on Saturday , Wong, who is also Finance Minister, told reporters, "We are riding one major... one big wave now. But we should be mentally prepared that there will be subsequent waves to follow." "Unlike for example, many other European countries, we have kept infections in Singapore low for a very long time," said Wong, noting that many countries ended up paying a "high price" with many fatalities.

The city-state is now facing the coronavirus with a much more highly vaccinated population, and it may reach a point with high vaccinations and a higher level of natural immunity only months later. Speaking at the same conference, Ong said that Singapore may start seeing 5,000 daily new COVID cases around mid-October.

Speaking at a multi-ministry task force press conference on Honestly I don’t see any point to keep talking about this issue anymore. If things turn out well, we beat the virus but if things turn sour, than the virus is at fault so either way it’s the average Singaporean that is going to suffer… After 18 months of creating a sense of paranoia it's now nothing to worry about? If you are a senior with underlying condition, you are not wrong to be anxious and fearful.

8 more COVID deaths, record 2,909 new cases in SingaporeThe MOH on Friday (1 October) confirmed a record 2,909 COVID cases in Singapore – taking the country's total case count to 99,430 – and eight more deaths due to the disease. DONT KNOW WHY MOH IS NOT TAKING ANY ACTION FOR THE ELDERLY TO HAVE MANDATORY VACCINATION INSTEAD OF LIVING THEM TO DIE. THESE DEATHS ARE NOT GOOD FOR OUR ECONOMY AND TOURISM. PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. TOO MANY DEATHS FOR A SMALL COUNTRY. Are these infections mostly in workers vaccinated with Astrazenica Coronavac and Sinopharm? Most active cases are found in dorm, no surprise....mainly Indian foreign workers. You can see them talking in public transport, mall...almost everywhere...when advise not to do so. This is their culture. Another kind of sovereign, loh. Nails into Singapore coffin....a quick RIP.
