The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 105.94 points to end at 28,621.39, while the broad-based S&P 500 gained 16.53 points to close at 3,239.91. E-commerce behemoth Amazon jumped 4.5 per cent after boasting of another"record" performance this season.Most other retailers rose at least somewhat, with Gap gaining 1.7 per cent, Target 0.3 per cent and Walmart 0.1 per cent.
"In general the market will be supported and there will be an inclination to buy the dip in the absence of negative news shocks," O'Hare said.
