SINGAPORE - More Singaporeans are re-evaluating plans to buy a home, with 55 per cent of those surveyed saying they may defer their purchase till property prices stabilise and inflation drops, and 24 per cent likely to shelve the idea altogether, a PropertyGuru poll found.

Among those looking to buy, 31 per cent are now considering Build-To-Order flats – nearly double the figure for the same January to June period in 2022. As interest rates rise, 68 per cent of HDB buyers and owners are opting to take up HDB loans, PropertyGuru’s study found. Almost half of Singaporeans polled said they were affected by the property cooling measures and are now looking for a less expensive home.High interest rates, labour and energy costs to weigh on property firms’ earnings

Is anyone surprised by this poll? Prices for HDB resale has gone out of control and beyond the means of sub-35 year olds (govt protestations if affordability is bullshit) and private resale and rentals also nuts...

Resale flat with less than 80 years left cost way too high especially for singles. Renting a place burns a hole in the pocket now days so you save almost nothing. That’s why most families are delaying having kids because savings are suffering.

Does this meanthat many Singaporeans are struggling to make ends meet despite assurance etc etc ?
