Rumours that the American pop star was deep in financial trouble circulated after American website NewsNation reported on March 14 that the 38-year-old Grammy winner had racked up more than US$50 million in debt from gambling.
According to Variety, representatives for Mars declined to comment and redirected Variety’s inquiry to MGM’s statement.
