SINGAPORE — A Chinese national was jailed for nine months for causing grievous hurt to a man he suspected of having an affair with his wife.

SINGAPORE — Suspecting his wife of having an affair, a man confronted the third party in his own living room and splashed him with hot water.

Han Bo, a 44-year-old Chinese national, was jailed for nine months on Thursday for causing grievous hurt to Kan, a Malaysian working as a delivery driver. A charge of threatening Kan by pointing a chopper at him to cause alarm was considered for sentencing. Han’s temper rose during the discussion, and he went to the kitchen to retrieve two knives – a kitchen knife with a 17cm blade and a chopper with an 18cm blade. He kept the kitchen knife in his back pocket while pointing the chopper at Kan, threatened to cause him hurt.

Thermal injury, inflammation on left eyeKan was sent to the Accident and Emergency department at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital and was later transferred to Singapore General Hospital. According to the prosecution, he was assessed to have “superficial partial thickness burn wounds involving 7.5 per cent of his total body surface area”.
