SINGAPORE: A 53-year-old man who died of a heart attack due to a blood clot was confirmed to have COVID-19 after his death, the Ministry of Health said on Monday .

He is the fourth COVID-19 case since the start of April to have died from heart issues and whose cause of death is not linked to COVID-19. His death was not added to the official death toll.“Only cases where the attending doctor or pathologist attributes the primary or underlying cause of death as due to COVID-19 infection will be added to the COVID-19 death count,” MOH said.Coronary thrombosis is the formation of a blood clot inside a blood vessel of the heart, restricting blood flow.

Reports from doctors in China, Europe and the US have noted a dangerous complication of COVID-19 – blood clotting.
