The 34-year-old man faces a jail term of between one to seven years, and caning.

A 34-year-old man has been charged in court over two separate cases of snatch theft that occurred at Teck Whye Avenue.

In the first case, the police received a report from a female victim who said an unknown man had snatched her handbag on June 18 at about 8.40pm. In the second case, the police received a report from a man who informed that an unknown man had snatched his brother’s handphone on July 1 at about 12.04am.

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from police and CCTV cameras, officers from Jurong Police Division, Police Operations Command Centre, Police Transport Security Command and Criminal Investigation Department established the man's identity and arrested him on July 1. The man was charged in court on Saturday with snatch theft, which carries a jail term of between one to seven years, and caning.
