SINGAPORE: A 40-year-old man was arrested on Sunday (Apr 14) for allegedly setting off fireworks near a Yishun HDB block several days ago. The police said they responded to the incident at about 10.40pm on Apr 9, at Block 642 Yishun Street 61.

The police said they responded to the incident at about 10.40pm on Apr 9, at Block 642 Yishun Street 61.The man was identified through ground enquiries as well as images from police cameras and closed-circuit television. He will be charged in court on Apr 16 with the offence of discharging dangerous fireworks under the Dangerous Fireworks Act 1972.

If found guilty, he faces a jail term of up to two years, a maximum fine of S$10,000 , or both.“The police have zero tolerance against acts that endanger the lives or safety of others as well as cause undue alarm to the public," said the Singapore Police Force.
