SINGAPORE — After the van he was driving seemingly skidded and came to a crashing stop near Redhill MRT Station, a 72-year-old driver ended up being pinned to his seat and later died in hospital.

The police said that they were alerted on Monday to the accident at 3.20pm, which involved a van believed to have skidded along 920 Tiong Bahru Road.

Singapore Civil Defence Force officers at the scene found the driver trapped in his seat and rescued him using hydraulic rescue equipment. The driver was unconscious and taken to Singapore General Hospital, where he later died, the police said. A clip posted on TikTok by user “Afy Suave” on Monday afternoon showed a silver-coloured van with its windshield shattered.Several police vehicles and a tow truck were also seen at the side of the road."Poe Mu Htwe", lasting close to three minutes, also showed a tow truck trying to extract the van out of the sheltered walkway, attracting onlookers at the traffic junction.
