SINGAPORE: There were long queues inside the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) building on Monday (Jun 13), the first day of new rules permitting walk-ins from only certain passport applicants. Only those who have been notified to collect their passports, submit supporting documen

. This required the authority to deploy additional officers for crowd management and other services.

“All the seats were taken, everyone was sitting on the floor until the lift lobby and that’s only the second storey," he said of the crowd in the building. When CNA spoke to another 42-year-old applicant, she said she had already been waiting for about three hours to collect her passport. He added that it was less crowded with the new system, with ICA also restricting the number of family members who could enter the building.

Just look at the causeway jams..same excuses. 2 yrs of lockdown in travel and nothing new in terms of improvement. Same excuse of “we will not compromise on security” - the public knows that. We are talking about efficiencies.

ICA caught in a bind. Poor planning and lack of anticipation..2 yrs of Covid lockdown and they did not prepare for it. There should have been better ideas to deal with it..

It is shocking that ICA was not prepared for this, knowing that there will be a rush to travel after opening up. Very poor planning, all sleeping. And getting pay rise. Wake up your idea!! 🙄🙄🙄 excusesaplenty
