“I don’t know how the generations of Singaporeans who grew with this song might feel about this more introspective and personal interpretation of “Home”. I hope that they will like it, or allow for it,” she wrote

SINGAPORE: In an Instagram post, Kit Chan recently shared that she’s done a remake of the iconic National Day song titled ‘Home’. In her post, she said, “I’m filled with excitement and trepidation to share this piece of news with all of you.”

She added: “I’ve done a remake of “Home” on its 25th anniversary, with the blessing of Dick Lee and the wonderful support of its original producer Sydney Tan. It feels right to do it on this double milestone year .”Kit Chan expressed that she does not fully recognise herself whenever she listens to the song she originally sang in 1998. She describes the feeling: “It is me, unmistakably, but also not quite me.” She admitted that she has changed, and Singapore as well.

“I don’t know how the generations of Singaporeans who grew with this song might feel about this more introspective and personal interpretation of “Home”. I hope that they will like it, or allow for it. For better or worse, it is my own vision of Singapore, and my personal experience of it now”, she declared. One IG user said: “I was part of the school choir that sang Home with you in 1998 NDP! Love the new version. Got me teary and emotional.

Another IG user remarked: “Congrats Kit! It is an excellent remake – just when I thought you could not do any better to a perfect Home, the remake was simply brilliant! And also reflect Singapore today, 25 years later. 🔥🔥🔥” One more user declared: “Very nice remake and certainly evoke the memories and tears in all of us truly and surely. Hoping to catch this version at your 30th year concert. This is home truly bcos I get to go to your concert with my childhood friend from primary school!! Looking forward to Sep.”Tags:
