John Legend has spoken about #MeToo movement backlash after being criticised for changing the lyrics to classic Christmas song 'Baby, It's Cold Outside'.
However, the 40-year-old singer-songwriter has received criticism for the Kelly Clarkson duet track from the likes of Sharon Osbourne and Piers Morgan, the latter of which calling the musician a “virtue-signalling horror story”. Legend’s updated versions sees lyrics such as ‘At least I'm gonna say that I tried , I really can't stay ’ swapped for ‘At least I'm gonna say that I tried , I really can't stay ’.
“People think that because some people have lost their jobs, or have been expelled from Hollywood, like Weinstein, that we’ve gone too far. I don’t agree. But people wanted the Baby It’s Cold Outside war to be a proxy war for all that.”
