TOKYO - Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Yasutoshi Nishimura visited a controversial war shrine on Aug 13, Kyodo News has reported, in a move that could potentially sour relations with China and South Korea.Prime Minister Fumio Kishida's Cabinet was inaugurated in October.

Japan occupied South Korea for 35 years before its defeat in 1945, and its invasion of China in the run-up to the global conflict led to the deaths of millions of Chinese soldiers and civilians. Tributes to the shrine by Japanese leaders have scarred the country's relations with China and South Korea for years.
