Singapore Foreign Affairs Minister Vivian Balakrishnan is visiting the Philippines to mark 55 years of diplomatic ties. He said it is important for the whole of ASEAN to maintain peace and stability in the South China Sea.

He added that, although Singapore has no claims in those waters, the Republic has been watching recent developments with concern. Dr Balakrishnan also reaffirmed Singapore's commitment to negotiating a Code of Conduct in the South China Sea . Buena Bernal reports.
