SINGAPORE: The Government remains the institution most trusted by people in Singapore with trust levels at a high, even as business leaders in many other countries command more trust than their political counterparts.
The findings, which were released on Wednesday , showed that on average, 50 per cent of the respondents around the world trust their respective governments, while trust in business was 12 points higher at 62 per cent. Globally, Singapore is one of six countries where there were high trust for governments: The others were China , United Arab Emirates , Saudi Arabi , India and Indonesia .
Singapore was among the countries found to be"not polarised", along with China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE., which found that about 75 per cent of Singaporeans thought the country was more united than before the COVID-19 pandemic. In three quarters of the countries surveyed, respondents with a high income are more trusting of institutions than those with low income. High-income earners' average trust in institutions has risen globally from 50 per cent to 62 per cent since 2012. For low-income earners, the Trust Index also rose, but only slightly from 44 per cent to 48 per cent.
Polarization happens every where including Singapore. Only difference is an absolutely gov sponsored media clique actively suppresses it.
