SINGAPORE — The first three stations on the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL) will be up and running by January 2020.

SINGAPORE — By the Chinese New Year period in January next year, the first three stations on the Thomson-East Coast Line – Woodlands North, Woodlands and Woodlands South – will be open for use.

According to The Straits Times, there will be a few days of free travel for commuters so that they can familiarise themselves with the new stations and the connection to the North-South Line. The announcement was made by Transport Minister Khaw Boon Wan on Thursday during his visit to the new line’s Mandai Depot. Nine trains are now being tested and commissioned for the opening stage of the TEL.

Khaw added that full testing of the entire TEL system will commence during the December holidays, according to The Straits Times. Singapore’s sixth MRT line – which is fully underground – began construction in 2013, and will be 43 kilometres long with 32 stations when it is scheduled to be completed around 2024. Eight of the stations will be interchanges with other MRT lines.Caregivers for the elderly lose $57,000 in income per year: Aware reportSingaporean woman pleads guilty to torturing pet chihuahua
