[WASHINGTON] Facebook said Friday it would ban a 'wider category of hateful content' in ads as the embattled social media giant moved to respond to widening protests over its handling of inflammatory posts. Read more at The Business Times.

Facebook has underscored its moves to stem racism and discrimination in the wake of civil unrest triggered by the May 25 death of African American George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police.

Under the new policy which mirrors that of Twitter, Mr Zuckerberg said,"We will soon start labeling some of the content we leave up because it is deemed newsworthy, so people can know when this is the case." At the same time, Mr Trump and his allies have voiced anger over what they claim is bias against conservatives.Mr Zuckerberg made no mention of the ad boycott but said the changes were based on"feedback from the civil rights community and reflect months of work with our civil rights auditors."
