Twelve elderly people were killed and 11 injured after their truck overturned on a mountain road in eastern China on Sunday.
The driver, who was not identified and among the injured, offered 22 pilgrims a lift but lost control of the vehicle halfway down a hill. “The driver meant well. He offered to give them a ride as those elders walked down the hill,” a relative of one of the victims was quoted as saying. “There were too many people [on board the truck].”
