SINGAPORE — Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat on Thursday paid tribute to Singaporean inventor Sim Wong Hoo, saying that the late founder of multinational tech firm Creative Technology dedicated his life to"pushing new frontiers" and that"his success serves as inspiration for Singapore startups that followed".
The company’s board of directors said in a filing with the Singapore Exchange in the morning that he “passed away peacefully” without giving other details. Mr Heng also said that Sim showed gumption when he launched the Nomad series of portable audio players, which competed directly with Apple’s iPod and Sony’s digital Walkman.
