In a media release on Thursday , the Ministry of Health said that, with more individuals returning to workplaces as Singapore’s economy re-opens in Phase 2 from Friday, such testing will be extended to the 45-and-above age group, as the risks of severe COVID-19 infection increases from age 45.
“There is clinical and scientific evidence to show that a person is most infectious right before and immediately after the start of symptoms,” the ministry said in the media release. Increasing testing capacity to 40,000 tests per dayWith Phase 2 of Singapore’s reopening after the circuit breaker period underway, MOH said it will continue to step up precautionary measures to enable a safe resumption of activities. It plans to increase testing capacity to 40,000 tests per day.
MOH will continue to do more active surveillance testing in the community. To make testing more convenient, it will be setting up more regional screening centres to help bring testing services closer to residents.
