In a media release on Thursday , the Ministry of Health said that, with more individuals returning to workplaces as Singapore’s economy re-opens in Phase 2 from Friday, such testing will be extended to the 45-and-above age group, as the risks of severe COVID-19 infection increases from age 45.

“There is clinical and scientific evidence to show that a person is most infectious right before and immediately after the start of symptoms,” the ministry said in the media release. Increasing testing capacity to 40,000 tests per dayWith Phase 2 of Singapore’s reopening after the circuit breaker period underway, MOH said it will continue to step up precautionary measures to enable a safe resumption of activities.
