COVID-19: Singapore Rugby Sevens event cancelled due to pandemic via yahoosg

The sport’s world governing body, World Rugby, announced on Tuesday that the remaining rounds of the series, including the Singapore leg, have been axed in response to continued health concerns relating to the coronavirus outbreak.

“The decision has been made after taking into consideration the health and wellbeing of the rugby community and the wider public,” said the Singapore Rugby Sevens organisers in a media release on Tuesday. “The organisers of the HSBC Singapore Rugby Sevens regret but are supportive of the decision. The health and safety of our fans, players and everyone working on the event is our highest priority.”

The event was originally scheduled for 11 and 12 April at the National Stadium, but was postponed to the current October dates due to the COVID-19 outbreak. All tickets purchased for the event will be valid of next year’s Singapore Sevens, which is scheduled for 10 and 11 April 2021. Those unable to attend the 2021 event can email enquiry@apactix.com or call +65-3158-8588 to request a refund.More Singapore stories:Time-slot bookings, specific usage times for ActiveSG sports facilities in Phase 2
