SINGAPORE — The launch of this year’s Hari Raya Light-Up along Geylang Road and Sims Avenue will be postponed until further notice due to the circuit breaker measures to curb the spread of COVID-19.
In a media statement on Tuesday , the People’s Association said the event launch, which was original set for Sunday, has been postponed so as to align with nationwide efforts to encourage residents to stay home and be safe. The annual event marks the start of the fasting month of Ramadan and Hari Raya Aidilfitri. It is usually held in conjunction with the Geylang Serai Hari Raya Bazaar, which has already been cancelled.
“We will monitor the COVID-19 situation closely and announce the new Light-Up date in due time,” PA said in its statement.Related stories:COVID-19: More than 200 fines issued on Monday to those who flout safe distancing measuresTeen mother admits to cheating Carousell buyers over surgical masks in February
