The case was adjourned for submissions on whether an acquittal or a retrial should follow.

SINGAPORE - The Court of Appeal has overturned the conviction of a 63-year-old man who had been sentenced to death for heroin trafficking because the prosecution had run an inconsistent case during his trial regarding when the drugs were delivered to him.

The three-judge court also told the parties to submit on whether, in the event an acquittal is granted, any altered charges should be brought against Mubin in the light of his admission that he had obtained methamphetamine from his supplier on multiple occasions. Lokman was arrested on the night of Sept 8, 2015, by Central Narcotics Bureau officers on the ground floor of a condominium in Katong.

The prosecution contended that Mubin had received the two bundles of heroin from his Malaysian suppliers, Mohd Zaini Zainutdin and Mohd Noor Ismail. His only defence was that he had acted as a courier by working for Mubin, in exchange for a supply of drugs and some money.
