Coronavirus: Mosque in KL and low-profile Islamic group reel from virus cluster shock

KUALA LUMPUR - The usually bustling Masjid Jamek Sri Petaling in south Kuala Lumpur that used to be open 24 hours a day was eerily quiet on Tuesday afternoon, with congregants speaking in hushed tones about recent events that has put the mosque in the spotlight.

The large mosque complex has been closed to the public since March 12 for disinfecting work after government data showed that a mass gathering of some 16,000 people here a fortnight ago led to a huge cluster of coronavirus infections.Enjoy unlimited access to ST's best work Subscribe Now
