National Development Minister Lawrence Wong said the Government has to do what is right and necessary to protect Singaporeans in a public health crisis.. Read more at straitstimes.com.

SINGAPORE - All beaches in Singapore were closed to the public on Saturday as circuit breaker measures to curb the spread of the Covid-19 virus and get Singaporeans to stay home were tightened further.

"In theory, we could keep most places open, so long as safe distancing measures are strictly adhered to. But increasingly we see that this is hard to achieve. So tougher measures are necessary," said Mr Wong, who is co-chair of the multi-ministry taskforce against the coronavirus. Mr Wong reiterated that Singaporeans must drastically reduce contact with others for the circuit breaker to be effective, even as he acknowledged that there are people who"genuinely find it hard to adjust".

I suggest that all Singaporean companies and factories should be expelled from Taiwan. If people who are not willing to leave Taiwan should protest outside their companies

All factories in Taiwan should be withdrawn from Singapore. Singapore is a failed country and is now in a state of closure. The factory in Taiwan suffered heavy losses

I see how wearing a mask in the MRT, in the supermarkets or crowded places help. It ahould have indeed been done long ago. But closing the beach? Really? If there is one place I don’t fear catch the covid would be swimming in the open sea.

I don’t see how I put my family in danger if I play football on a lawn where there is nobody or why I should practice safe distancing with the members of my household when I am outside. We should safe distance between households, not within the same households.

Enforcement cannot allways be the answer and gets harder over time. The next phase is all about personal protection.

Good, the amount of people jogging in parks is insane, this just shows people so accustomed to working like robots they cannot even sit still. It’s sad, no wonder we have so much of mental health issues. 🙄

i am seeing ppl run on footpaths and connectors and everyone is following rules and not crowding. So who on earth were these ppl who decided to rush to the beaches and parks? Can we not be silly and at least retain our open spaces

Soon we be forced into our little hole and turn crazy together

Ah government give us freedom and idiots misuse it... Now got nothing your fault

Well tbh what did u expect, the latest you take tougher measures the longest we will be in containment

All the beachgoers go “sonuvabeach!”

Close all public toilets. No place for those to ease and wash up after outing.

Instead of churning out new measures daily, why not just implement movement control? Seems like people just can't be trusted to behave responsibly. All the measures and money pumped into this will go down to waste if this continues

Curfew is the best...

Soon all parks will b closed!

COVID 19 During the period of islam ( the 2nd Caliphate) there outbreaks in Syria. The Caliphate-Umar Al Khattab, urge the govener of Syria at that time was Abu Hurairah- to move those who caught pandemic, goes to up hill, as the atmosphere is more fresh. Wallahuaklam

People don't want to listen. Best to just shutter these places. 👍
