The moves follow an import suspension by South Korea last month, after Canada reported its first BSE case in six years.China is the world's biggest importer of beef and veal, and Canada's third-biggest export market, according to the Canadian Cattlemen's Association (CCA). China took similar action against Brazil after that country confirmed BSE cases, before restoring imports in December after a three-month interruption.

The moves follow an import suspension by South Korea last month, after Canada reported its first BSE case in six years. China is the world's biggest importer of beef and veal, and Canada's third-biggest export market, according to the Canadian Cattlemen's Association (CCA). But the 22-year-old left-hander survived a barrage of breakpoint chances, including five in the opening game of the match, and held his nerve to claim victory in an hour and 38 minutes to give Canada a 1-0 lead in the tie. China took similar action against Brazil after that country confirmed BSE cases, before restoring imports in December after a three-month interruption. Canada, the first team in the ATP Cup's three-year history to have lost a tie en route to the final, were swept by the United States in their group opener and also lost their first match against Britain. BSE is a fatal disease of the nervous system in cattle. Obviously I've got a tough record against Carreno Busta, so I knew it was going to be a tough match," Shapovalov said. Canada, the eighth largest beef and veal exporter, reported the BSE case in December in an 8-1/2-year-old beef cow in the province of Alberta. The Canadian government, which like most countries has no formal diplomatic ties with Taiwan, said in its statement that Ng"highlighted Taiwan is a key trade and investment partner as Canada broadens its trade links and deepens its economic partnerships in the Indo-Pacific region".

Canada's latest case is atypical - meaning it is a form of BSE that can occur naturally in older cattle - as opposed to classical BSE, caused by an animal eating contaminated feed. But Felix Auger-Aliassime and Shapovalov, who had contracted the novel coronavirus in the leadup to the US$10 million team event, bounced back with tie wins over Britain, Germany and then last year's winners Russia. There's no better feeling than winning. The three countries to suspend Canadian imports are seeking more information about the case, said Dennis Laycraft, the CCA's executive vice-president. The disruption has not had any noticeable impact on Canadian prices, he said. "We just have to keep going. "We expect these (suspensions) to be short in duration," Laycraft said. But we never stopped believing."We've been able to manage through it. If not, we have a good chance in the doubles.

" The cow was euthanized on the farm and did not enter the food or animal feed chain, according to the Canadian government. The first confirmed Canadian case of BSE, a classical form, was detected in 2003, resulting in some 40 export markets closing. He's an amazing player and I think we have a good chance..
