SINGAPORE — A body was found in a canal near the Geylang East Park in Aljunied on Friday (Aug 5) morning, with the police saying they do not suspect foul play.

In response to TODAY’s queries, the police said they were alerted to blood stains on the ground near Aljunied Avenue 5 at about 7.40am that day. Aljunied Avenue 5 runs along the perimeter of Geylang East Park.TODAY understands that the man’s body was found in a canal in the area.

“ was subsequently pronounced dead at scene by Singapore Civil Defence Force paramedics,” said the police. “Based on preliminary investigations, the police do not suspect foul play.
