SINGAPORE: Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office Indranee Rajah has issued a correction order under the Protection from Online Falsehoods and Manipulation Act to a local blog for suggesting that Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong deliberately concealed Transport Minister S Iswaran’s arrest.

On 16 July, the ‘Political Sophistry’ blog published an article suggesting that the arrest was not disclosed as it was politically embarrassing and that Mr Wong deliberately withheld the information in order to conceal the truth. Arguing that the CPIB should make the call on when to release operational information, the Government said: “Whether to arrest a person under investigation is an operational judgement by CPIB.

“As it is CPIB’s operational judgement when and whether to make public that a person has been arrested in connection with their investigations, PM’s statement of 12 July 2023 and DPM Wong at his doorstop interview on the same day were consistent with CPIB’s 12 July 2023 press release.
