SINGAPORE: Voters who are in quarantine or under stay orders due to COVID-19 will be able to vote outside of their electoral districts in the upcoming General Election, in special provisions introduced for the next election, said the Elections Department on Tuesday .
Electors who are subject to COVID-19 stay orders will be allowed to vote outside of their electoral divisions, such as at designated facilities they are housed in under the proposed provisions.AdvertisementAn aspiring candidate may also authorise a representative to file his nomination paper on his behalf, if he is on a COVID-19 quarantine order or stay order, hospitalised or ill.
The Bill allows ELD to implement temporary arrangements to ensure the safety of voters, candidates and election officials, should the next General Election take place amid the COVID-19 situation, said Mr Chan in response to media queries on the Bill.

7 April - Circuit break. 14 April - Daily cases start to drop. Same day writ of election. 21 April - Nomination day. 2 April - Cooling off. 3 April - Polling day. 4 April - Back to work.
Will have to happen by early next year. World recession already. Singapore need a government in place to get Singapore through COVID-19 and plan recovery. Tough times ahead.
That’s why they give not one, not two but three relief packages cuz they want the ge now and to get majority vote while things are still hot off the oven
This doesn't mean that elections would be held soon. Just means that we are planning for rules to hold the GE safely in case the outbreak lasting till Apr 2021.
