'Bilakah ini akan berakhir?': Mangsa banjir di Batu Pahat, Johor menanti air surut susulan cuaca bertambah baik

Selepas berpindah dari rumah mereka selama beberapa hari, penduduk daerah Batu Pahat yang terjejas teruk dilanda banjir suarakan kebimbangan mereka kerana paras air yang masih belum surut.

BATU PAHAT, Johor: Sudah lima hari Encik Muhammad Isa Sulaiman terpaksa mengosongkan rumahnya di Parit Awang berikutan air banjir yang semakin meningkat akibat hujan lebat berterusan.

"Saya sudah tak balik sejak Rabu lalu dan saya sangat risau tentang barang berharga kami. Kami ada kereta, peti ais, mesin basuh dan beberapa ekor ayam, saya rasa semuanya sudah tiada," tambah Encik Muhammad Isa.Encik Muhammad Isa dan keluarganya adalah antara puluhan ribu penduduk kampung yang terjejas akibat banjir di Johor sejak minggu lalu.

Tambah jawatankuasa itu, Batu Pahat merupakan daerah paling teruk dilanda banjir di negeri selatan itu dengan seramai 20,767 orang ditempatkan di PPS.Penduduk Batu Pahat beratur untuk mengambil selimut, bantal dan berus gigi di pusat pemindahan sementara di Yong Peng. Sementara itu, Encik Ong Chee Wee, seorang penduduk Parit Yaani dekat Yong Peng, memberitahu CNA bahawa tinggal di PPS menghampakannya bersama isteri dan tiga orang anaknya.

“Ramai di antara kita mempunyai bot di rumah sebagai langkah berjaga-jaga selepas apa yang berlaku pada 2006. Saya rasa banjir kali ini sama teruk, paras air tinggi dan kerosakan yang kami alami agak teruk,” katanya. Namun, beliau tidak menolak kemungkinan bahawa penduduk akan dapat pulang ke rumah masing-masing tidak lama lagi sekiranya cuaca terus baik dan hujan tidak berterusan.
