MCCY said that in his years of service, Mr Alami played a key role in strengthening Singapore's mosque sector.

The ministry said he played a pivotal role in improving Muis' capabilities to serve the community and was also a strong advocate of community bonding and religious harmony. "I look forward to contributing to the Muis Council, which is an important institution for the Muslim community in Singapore," he said.

"With his extensive experience in the media and community, Mr Mohamed Sa'at is well placed to lead Muis," said MCCY.
