Share this contentMELBOURNE: Australia reported a drop in new coronavirus cases on Friday , with a surge in the second most populated state Victoria appearing to have eased, although more than 10,000 people have refused to be tested in hotspot suburbs of Melbourne.

The spike in Victoria is being closely watched as the rest of the country has reined in the infection. The country's most populated state, New South Wales, reported zero new cases on Friday. "It is concerning that some people believe that coronavirus is a conspiracy or that it won't impact on them, so what I want to stress here is that coronavirus is a very contagious virus," Victorian Health Minister Jenny Mikakos told reporters.
