At least 22 people have been killed after Eastern Turkey was rocked by a 6.8 magnitude earthquake on Friday .
The quake struck about 340 miles east of the capital Ankara and was followed by nearly 400 aftershocks, 12 of which measured more than 4 in magnitude. Turkey's Disaster and Emergency Authority said more than a thousand others were injured and in hospitals across the region. Drone footage showed rescue workers trawling through collapsed buildings, in a desperate search for survivors.Straddling seismic faultlines, Turkey is prone to earthquakes.
The country's interior minister said Turkey had learnt lessons from previous disasters which helped it address Friday's incident.
