SINGAPORE - To enable earlier detection and isolation of asymptomatic Covid-19 cases among migrant workers, the Ministry of Manpower and the Ministry of Health have started piloting the use of antigen rapid tests, which can produce results within half an hour.
The pilot programme comes as agencies work out ways to incorporate fast testing into Singapore's Covid-19 response, including having such rapid tests available at certain mass events in the coming months. The antigen rapid test will be used as an additional test on the seventh day of the 14-day RRT cycle, to complement the PCR tests on the 14th day. This means that workers will be tested every seven days during the pilot.
Migrant workers who test positive can be isolated immediately and sent to a medical facility for a confirmatory PCR test, said MOM.
