YANQING, China : Skiing out of her two strongest events, slalom and giant slalom, eased the pressure on Mikaela Shiffrin, if not necessarily in a good way, and she is starting to feel better being back on her skis again, the American skier said on Saturday.

"But performance-wise, expectation-wise, I pretty much checked that box... not in a good way, but I checked it. Now it's just trying to get the feeling on my skis that I'm actually doing a pretty good job." She said she would use the next few days of training to reach a final decision on whether she would start Tuesday's downhill race.

"They're going to really improve that already tomorrow and I'm not sure exactly where, how I can improve. I just felt solid on my skis.
